What SHOULD I EXPECT at corgi beach day?

Spring will be here before you know it and you know what that means – Corgi Beach Day is coming! Corgi Beach Day brings thousands of Corgis from all over the world to celebrate their stumpy legs, adorable smiles, and playful spirits! Not only is it a corgi-centric festival, but you’ll also see countless vendors, food trucks, contests, giveaways and activities happening all at once. It can be challenging to know what’s the best thing to eat or where you can find the best corgi swag for you and your pet. Whether it’s your very FIRST TIME at Corgi Beach Day or you’re a seasoned pro…we’re bringing you 14 great hacks to make it the BEST DAY EVER!

1. Arrive early

Corgi Beach Day is the biggest doggy party on the planet, and we don’t want you to miss out on any of the fun! When it comes to a super busy festival at the beach, we always suggest arriving early. Not only will this guarantee you great parking, but you’ll find the area and be able to check out cool vendors and activities that are sure to get busy. Corgi Beach Day officially begins at 10 am. Come early, enjoy the early beach breeze, and plan out your day as the vendors and Corgi Beach Day team is setting up.

And don’t forget……CORGI BEACH DAY HAS MOVED! We have a brand new location just 2 blocks south of the Huntington Beach Pier in the HEART of Huntington Beach! With THOUSANDS OF PARKING SPOTS!!!! Enter the PCH/Huntington entrance OR the PCH/Beach Blvd. entrance. Parking is $15 and covers you for the entire day!

2. SIGN UP FOR CONTESTS AHEAD OF TIME!

Does your Corgi have what it takes to win the Best Costume Contest, Limbo or Best Momo (aka Best Corgi BUTT Contest)? Want to compete in the Cutest Cardigan Corgi, Best Momo or Fetch Fanatic Contest? If so, be sure you register online ahead of time- some contests require pre-registration! For the costume contest and a few others, no pre-signup is necessary but lineup begins about 10 minutes before the contest kicks off! 3. Make a schedule

Have you ever been to a festival with so many fun activities that you miss a few great contests or Meet & Greets? Don’t miss a thing by visiting the schedule of events banners located at the entrance (backside of the Corgi Beach Day merch tent), at the Main Arena, and on signs placed around the event. Take a photo of it on your phone, and set a plan! There’s so much to do and see, something for everyone at Corgi Beach Day!

4. SPEND TIME AT VENDOR VILLAGE

You can’t come to Corgi Beach Day without stopping by all of our furbulous vendor and sponsors. This year, we have the biggest vendor village yet and have selected only the BEST vendors for you!

With more than 45+ vendors, we’ve got everything from pet food & treats, pet supplies and accessories for your pup, corgi-centric gifts and accessories for yourself, custom art work, toys, treats and more! Many of our pet food & treat vendors be giving out delicious samples & coupons, along with offering complimentary giveaways for your pups.

5. WEAR YOUR CORGI BEACH DAY GEAR AND SNAG THE LATEST GEAR!

You’ll see MANY people wearing current and past Corgi Beach Day shirts!

Stop by the Corgi Beach Day vendor tent to score your official Corgi Beach Day merch and souvenirs. If you’re a proud Corgi owner or simply want to show your love for Corgi Beach Day, pick up great apparel and merchandise So Cal Corgi Nation offers- T-shirts, hats, flags, towels, stickers, magnets and more! You’ll see the large tent just as you enter the Vendor Village area.

Want your gear to wear before Corgi Beach Day? Save time and buy online at socalcorgination.com in advance. BRAND NEW CORGI BEACH DAY IS NOW LIVE! Whether you shop online or at the tent the day of the event, proceeds help benefit the rescue organization, Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue. Get your Corgi gear and help Corgis in need!

6. BRING A TOTE BAG

People love attending because they know they’ll be leaving with tons of samples and swag for their pets. From freebies to apparel, you’ll be picking up a lot of goodies at every vendor you visit. Stay comfortable by bringing a tote bag! By bringing a tote bag, you won’t have to balance so many things in your arms while you hold your pet’s leash in one hand and your food truck lunch in the other!

7. PAY TRIBUTE TO MR. PICKLES

Mr, Pickles, the corgi that started it all. Even though Mr. Pickles is not with us on earth anymore- we’ll always have something special at Corgi Beach Day to CELEBRATE and HONOR the one and only, Mr. Pickles! He’s the reason why Corgi Beach Day was created!!!

8. MAKE YOUR CORGI STAND OUT

With so many unleashed Corgis running around, it can be quite easy to lose yours if they aren’t wearing something unique. Choose to dress them up in something personal and recognizable at this special event. For greater safety reasons, make sure to have your contact information on them. Whether it’s on their collar or on a piece of apparel, it’ll make it easier for you and your pet if they get lost.

Don’t forget the theme of Spring Corgi Beach Day is CORGABUNGA USA! A tribute to SURF CITY USA, think surf vibes & tiki times! Go all out and get crazy ! For humans and pets! Get decked out to go big in your best costumes!

9. UNDERSTAND YOUR CORGIS BEHAVIOR

Before bringing your pet, take some time to evaluate your pet’s behaviors and preferences to best accommodate them at Corgi Beach Day. Have a pup that gets overwhelmed? Make sure they’re comfortable by keeping them on-leash at all times during the event. This will prevent accidents and put both you and your pet’s minds at ease. Does your pet get hot easily? Check the weather prior to the big day and help protect them from extreme temperatures with shoes for their paws and coverage with an umbrella. Do they get anxious? Look into trying a relaxing, natural CBD oil ahead of time. By putting your pet’s needs first, it’ll make it a better time for both you and them throughout the day! It’s ok to leave an easily overwhemed corgo home too, we understand (have you met Mr. Pickles brofur, Chappy? He’s better in small groups so he sits out Corgi Beach Day).

10. BRING WATER + BEACH GEAR!

You’re at the beach on a warm day, so make sure to bring water for both you and your pet! Worried about running out of water? Visit the Main Arena, Corgi Beach Day merch tent or one of our food truck partners or, look out for water bowls around the vendor village. Don’t be afraid to make a new friend and see if they have water to share as well, the corgi community takes care of each other!

Not only do we recommend bringing water, but bring everything you’d need for a typical day at the beach, towels, sunscreen, snacks, chairs and water! And a fully charged phone for taking all those pics and vids!

11. GET YOUR LUNCH BEFORE LUNCHTIME

By arriving early and staying active at the beach, you’re sure to get hungry! Chow down on delicious items from food trucks serving grilled cheese sandwiches, gourmet hot dogs, funnel cakes, and more! There’s plenty of dishes, perfect for a wide variety of diets. We suggest getting your food before 11 am so you can skip the long lines and the hectic rush.

Forgot to pack snacks for your pup? Don’t worry! Visit The Mobile Barkery’s truck to pick up some yummy treatos for your dog too!

12. CAPTURE AMAZING MEMORIES

Want to capture the best memories from the day? Keep an eye out for our Themed Photo Op Stations by the Main Arena, along with various #selfie stops and Corgi Beach Day logo banners throughout the event!

13. VISIT QUEEN’S BEST STUMPY DOG RESCUES BOOTH

Corgi Beach Day has partnered with Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue, a SoCal rescue that has helped Corgi rescues with special needs since 2013. Be sure to stop by their booth, learn about the breed and everything that QBSDR does for the corgi community! If you have been considering a corgi, this is a perfect first place to stop…ask about fostering or volunteering to see if a corgi would be a good fit for you!

14. ALL DOGS ARE WELCOMe….and YOU DON’T NEED A DOG TO ATTEND!

Even if you don’t own a Corgi, we’d love to see your other fur babies! This is great for your pup to socialize, have a nice day out at the beach, and enjoy great freebies. It’s exciting to see other furry guests supporting their Corgi cousins!

If you don’t own a dog but are a corgi fan just wants to bask in all the cute corgi-ness of the day, that’s ok too! Corgis are not required to attend.
